LingoFix ("the app") is a Shopify app that translates a store's content. This policy explains what data the app accesses when a merchant installs it, how that data is used and how it is deleted.
Data the app accesses
- Store content that the merchant chooses to translate: products and their options, variants, metafields and image alt texts, collections, pages, blogs, menus, policies, metaobjects, theme texts, filters, store SEO texts and notification email templates.
- The store's languages, markets and existing translations.
- Basic store information (shop domain, plan type) needed for authentication and billing.
- API keys that the merchant adds for their own AI provider. Keys are encrypted at rest and never shown again in full.
- The email address the merchant enters for notifications, used only to send the notifications they turned on.
The app does not access or store customer or order data. It does not use cookies for tracking.
The optional store language and region switcher runs in the shopper's browser. It reads the browser's language settings and Shopify's own country suggestion, and remembers the shopper's choice in the browser's local storage. It sends nothing to the app's servers.
How the data is used
- Texts selected for translation are sent to an AI translation provider and the results are written back to the store as translations, or as replaced originals when the merchant chooses that option. A backup of replaced originals is kept so jobs can be reverted.
- With app credits, texts are processed by Google Gemini. With the merchant's own key, texts are processed by the provider the merchant selected (Google, OpenAI, Anthropic or DeepL) under the merchant's own agreement with that provider.
- Translations are kept in a translation memory for the store, so the same text is not translated twice.
- Billing for credits and plans is handled by Shopify. The app does not process payment details.
Data retention and deletion
When the app is uninstalled, automatic translation stops and running jobs are stopped. Shopify asks the app to delete the store's data 48 hours after uninstall; the app then deletes jobs, translation memory, glossary, settings and API keys. Records of purchased credits are kept for accounting and contain no personal data. Export files are deleted after 14 days.
Data location and security
Data is stored on the app's own servers, transferred only over encrypted connections (TLS) and accessible only to the app's operators for support.
